THE FLOW - JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2010 NEWSLETTER

The Faculty and Dancers have been working very hard, since November 2009, in readiness for The Flow's first 2010 performance, being held at the Genesis Theatre, Sunday at 3:00 pm February 7th, 2010. Dancers should arrive at 12:15 pm.

It will be an afternoon of award winning choreography, new choreography in jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop.

We have 3 very special guest artist(s) performing with The Flow that afternoon. The artists are from the Delta Youth Orchestra's String Quartet, Camille Garvey/jazz voice/dance collaboration, and Josh Harmsey our contemporary/voice/instrumental dance collaboration. The collaborative work with live musicians will be a constantly evolving element to The Flow, as we continue to grow and perform.

Julie, Lindsay and Carol had been working toward their dream of creating a Non-Profit children's dance company, and in May 2005, their dream was realized when The Flow Dance Ensemble became a registered nonprofit society.

The society's goals are to bring dance to the community while pursuing a commitment to excellence, creating an environment of semi-professional training and to afford opportunities for gifted dancers to take their training to the highest levels. We seek to inspire and enlighten children in the art of dance.

Here is a little of what is expected of The Flow Training Company, as follows:

The training company is a performance orientated class. It comprises of many different dimensions -
                              Learning choreography
                              Patterning
                              Working as a team
                              Respect for fellow dancers
How to move as a unit
                              Commitment to the team
                              Punctuality
                              Self respect
                              Confidence
                              Stage craft
An appreciation of the work involved creating a dance piece
A small insight into company life, working so closely together

The Flow is available for children's parties, Christmas occasions, office or corporate functions. Email info@freeflightdance.com or Tel:  (604 946-8586)
